The 104th Annual BC and Yukon State Convention this weekend was graced by the presence of several Bishops who shared many words of wisdom for us Knights. On this Good Shepherd Sunday, we thank God for and invoke His blessing upon these good shepherds who guide and challenge us to pursue our many worthy activities on a higher spiritual plane. More to come in our April newsletter.
Thank you to all of you who worked tirelessly for the State Convention, from the committee members to the volunteers and entertainment crew.
I am pleased to let you know, Brothers, that our Council 6855 brought home two Service Program Awards given out during the Awards Ceremony: Church (for the musical fundraiser Right Here, Write Now!) and Culture of Life (for our40 Days for Life vigil). I know we don’t do these things to win awards or recognition, but out of a sense of duty and stewardship. And out of love for the Lord, and in Him, our love for neighbour. But the awards do serve as a way of sharing what the 134 Councils in the State do, and inspire all of us with fresh ideas and renewed resolve to harness our manpower for our neighbour’s good and God’s greater glory!
I extend hearty congratulations to our Degree Teams. Once again, we took home the Leonard Bergonder trophy for Most Active in Degree Work.
We welcomed five gentlemen at our First Degree Exemplification after our Membership Blitz last weekend. Truly there are many more gentlemen out there just waiting for your personal invitation.
I apologize ahead of time if I am off-circuit this week, as we will be physically moving between two homes starting this Monday.
Let us bow our heads together in prayer for the people of Nepal, for those who lost their lives and those who struggle to cope with this tragedy. Let us do what we can to reach out to them in this time of great need.
Let us also pray for our young people who are about to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on April 28. May the power of the Holy Spirit descend mightily and transform them into soldiers for Christ!
May is our Blessed Mother’s month, and we start our daily Rosary on Friday May 1st at 7pm. We pray for all of the above intentions, and for all mothers. Let us all do our best to join this devotion.
Thank you to those who have let me know they will be joining us for the March for Life this coming May 14. If you haven’t done so, please email me to confirm your attendance so I have numbers and can plan the transportation.
Have a blessed week!
