This past week has been a blur for me, sidelined as I was by an awful flu virus. I do apologize for falling behind on my email responses and blog.
Thankfully, the kids were up and about for the Free Throw Championship last Saturday and four of them will be advancing to Regionals later this month. Thank you to Brother Knights who coordinated and helped out at this event.
It doesn’t look like the Archdiocese of Vancouver is participating in the 40 Days for Life campaign this year, which makes our Day of Prayer brigade each month even more crucial for uniting our prayers to end abortion. Our first Day of Prayer for 2015 was well attended, but we could do much better by covering all 24 hours! Brothers, let us give this our best effort as a sincere sign of our desire to end abortion and our humble need for heaven’s help to thwart all other assaults against life at its most vulnerable stages.
Our 1st Degree Exemplification last Monday was a sorry affair with only one candidate and not even from any of the Richmond Councils! We need to do better. One member per Council per month is our mandate. Let’s meet, nay, exceed this challenge at the next exemplification on February 16 – scheduled a week earlier in order to avoid conflict with the Parish Mission Feb 23-26 which we all should do our best to attend as part of our Lenten preparation.
Feb 9 is Family Day but there are not enough Mondays this month to move our General Meeting, so we will still have it on that Monday. Your attendance and participation are the essence of our Council.

Still thinking of what to do for Valentine’s Day? Our St. Joseph the Worker Brother Knights promise a fun affair with dinner, dancing, entertainment and fabulous prizes (hockey tickets!) at their 6th annual Valentine Dance. Check out poster for details here.
Please make sure you have blocked off Tuesday February 17 between 7-9pm on your calendars for our all-important Knights Education Seminar!

“Recently I have discovered several men who are quite lonely and looking for the friendship and camaraderie that our councils have to offer. Often we miss these men because in our mind, “…they are too old.” Age has nothing to do with membership recruitment. We need to be there for everyone. Don’t miss out on your chance to bring a new man and his family into our great Order and ensure that you take him through all of his degrees at the earliest opportunity.” — Dan O’Hara, PSD, State Membership and Retention Director
